As an Engineering intern, you’ll gain an understanding of the operations of an Engineering department and be mentored by the department manager. It is a position in developing drafting and design skills in the fast-paced modular construction industry. Learn about this exciting industry while working with an experienced team. This position will report to the Engineering Manager. You’ll get a great glimpse of overall Simplex operations!

Logistics:

• Summer 2026, May/June-August
• 25-40 hours per week, 10 weeks
• $15/hour
• On-site internship at business location in Scranton (Lackawanna County, PA)

Qualifications:

• Coursework in technical drawing using AutoCAD software
• Interest in entrepreneurship
• Strong time management and communication skills
• Are self-motivated with the ability to work independently
• Availability to work flexible schedule
• Can lift a minimum of 25lbs., if required

Projects:

Gain an understanding of how the Engineering department works, with great mentoring!  Internship will include being a part of an Engineering Department in a fast-paced working environment, and will involve the following:

• Compose shop drawings for single family houses that will go to the construction facility
• Assist with development of AutoCAD templates and drawing blocks
• Work with plant personnel during construction
• Work with sales and purchasing for materials coordination
• Other projects as assigned.

As the Purchasing Assistant Intern, you’ll gain an understanding of the operations of a Purchasing department and be mentored by the department manager. Focused on support and learning, you’ll learn and help with daily purchasing tasks and work on other projects within the operations of Simplex Homes. This intern reports to the Sr. Purchasing Manager. You’ll get a great glimpse of overall Simplex operations!

Logistics:

• Summer 2026, May/June-August
• Up to 30 hours per week, 10 weeks
• $15/hour
• On-site internship at business location in Scranton (Lackawanna County, PA)

Qualifications:

• Junior or Senior level with coursework in business; classes in operations/supply chain management are a plus
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel
• Ability to multi-task
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and take direction as necessary
• Outstanding critical thinking and analytical skills
• Can lift a minimum of 25lbs., if required

Projects:

Gain an understanding of how the Purchasing department works, with great mentoring!

• Matching purchase orders to confirmations, receiving slips to invoices
• Updating of cycle count inventory sheets
• Updating master purchase order file
• Assist with implementation of new item master program
• Assist with physical inventory

This internship will expand your digital marketing experience! Focused on support and learning, you’ll enhance your digital marketing experience and get a great glimpse of overall Simplex operations!

• Coursework and some experience in Marketing, Graphic Design, Business or Communications
• Strong social media platform skills: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, others
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strategic thinker with creative ideas
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Windows
• Interest in entrepreneurship

Projects:

Gain an understanding of how the Sales department works, with great mentoring!

• Develop recommendations and contribute to a plan for social media marketing growth – incorporating business sales approach, markets, goals, and timeline.
• Connect traditional advertising with social media platform marketing, working as a team with Sales leadership and outside marketing agencies.
• Grow social media platform hits, follows, likes, traffic, and connections through creating content, scheduling posts, and building relationships with current and new customers and the general public.
• Assist in a market strategy and promotion of Simplex’s 2025 new model and other company events.
